The Microsoft Travel news website has listed Hanoi as one of the 10 “most charming destinations” for a romantic getaway in Asia.
It called Vietnam’s capital “a fast-expanding metropolis in Southeast Asia.”
“Hanoi is known for the various rivers, lakes, and mountains that run beside and around it. Scattered around are tourist attractions that are very appealing because of the lush regions full of streams, rivers, and mountains such as Tam Dao,” the website stated.
The site suggested that travelers visit some of Hanoi’s most famous tourist attractions, such as the Temple of Literature, Dong Xuan Market, the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and West Lake, which is home to historical relics, pagodas and rows of restaurants and coffee shops along its shores.
The average stay at a three-star hotel costs VND716,000 ($30.77) for two guests, according to Microsoft.
The autumn season from September to November, and spring between March and April, are the most ideal times to visit Hanoi as the weather is pleasant with milder temperatures.
Other destinations on the list were Thailand’s Chiang Mai and Krabi, Indonesia’s Bali, Japan’s Tokyo, India’s Manali and the island city-state of Singapore.
